Science and Intellectual Property Law Review (SIPLR)

North Carolina Central University Science and Intellectual Property Law Review (SIPLR)

Starting in the fall of 2006, North Carolina Central University School of Law’s Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Law Review (BPLR) was created to serve as a unique and cutting-edge journal which sought to make substantial contributions to the development of biotechnology and pharmaceutical law.

Starting in the fall of 2017, North Carolina Central University School of Law’s Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Law Review (BPLR) transitioned into North Carolina Central University Science and Intellectual Property Law Review (SIPLR).

While SIPLR will focus on accepting and publishing a wide array of science-focused legal research writing, it will also publish work related to Intellectual Property (IP). IP is a fast-growing field within the law, and NCCU School of Law has sought to become a forerunner in minority representation within the IP community. To achieve this goal, SIPLR will publish professional and student works that analyze the areas of copyrights, trademarks, patents and more.

In the fall of 2017, North Carolina Central University School of Law’s Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Law Review (BPLR) transitioned into North Carolina Central University Science and Intellectual Property Law Review (SIPLR). BPLR, which was created in the fall of 2006, served as a unique and cutting-edge journal which sought to make substantial contributions to the development of biotechnology and pharmaceutical law.

SIPLR serves to become an expansion of BPLR’s focus. While SIPLR will accept and publish a wide array of science-focused legal research writing, it will also publish work related to Intellectual Property (IP). IP is a fast-growing field within the law, and NCCU School of Law has sought to become a forerunner in minority representation within the IP community. To achieve this goal, NCCU School of Law’s Intellectual Property Law Institute (IPLI) will include SIPLR under its expansive umbrella. With the help of IPLI, SIPLR will publish professional and student works that analyze the areas of copyrights, trademarks, patents and more.

In the spring of 2018, SIPLR will publish its inaugural publication consisting of a collection of articles, notes, comments, and hot topics related to IP. Additionally, in the spring, SIPLR will hold an annual symposium devoted to a single legal problem or issue in the related research areas.
