Mckissick vs Carmichael Reenactment Case

McKissick Event Flyer

Join us for an engaging oral argument: McKissick vs Carmichael Thursday, Oct. 17, from 12 p.m. – 1 p.m. in the Moot Court Room.

This event honors the legacy of Floyd McKissick Sr. and the important legal battle that he and his colleagues undertook in their pursuit of justice, equality, and education.  After being denied admission to the University of North Carolina School of Law because of his race, McKissick enrolled at the North Carolina College for Negroes, now North Carolina Central University. His case, backed by the NAACP and led by the renowned Thurgood Marshall, became a vital part of the movement to dismantle racial barriers in legal education.

Joining us will be Attorney Floyd McKissick Jr. as a key participant and a panel of distinguished judges, including Professors Foy, Matthews-Jolly, and Smith.  This event will be an enriching experience that highlights our school’s dedication to justice and community service.
