John D. Fasset Chair Lecture Series

NCCU School of Law will host the John D. Fasset Chair Lecture Series, featuring a distinguished lecture from Malik C. Edwards, Ph.D., the John D. Fassett Professorship Endowed Chair. The lecture will be held Oct. 16, 2024, at the law school in the Moot Courtroom at 11:30 a.m.

Dr. Edwards holds a doctorate degree from the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Education and a J.D. from New York University School of Law. His research focuses on educational disparities, aligning with the vision of the chair’s namesake, John D. Fassett, who served as a U.S. Supreme Court clerk during the historic 1954 Brown v. Board of Education decision and other landmark cases. The lecture series will not only highlight critical discussions surrounding educational equity and justice but also celebrate the rich legacy of the Fassett Chair, established by John D. Fassett himself, who generously donated a collection of records and writings from his time at the Supreme Court to the NCCU School of Law Library.

Join us on as we pay tribute to our history and inspire future legal leaders to address the pressing challenges of today.
