NCCU Law Celebrates Constitution Day

lecture

North Carolina Central University (NCCU) School of Law proudly commemorated Constitution Day, also known as Citizenship Day, on Tuesday, September 17, in the Great Hall. The event brought together students, faculty, and community members to honor the significance of the U.S. Constitution and reflect on its impact on our legal system.
This year, the keynote address was delivered by The Honorable Michael R. Morgan, an alumnus from the class of 1979 and former Justice of the North Carolina Supreme Court. Justice Morgan delivered an engaging and thought-provoking address centered around the theme, “The Constitution: Whose Is It?”

In his address, Justice Morgan explored the evolving interpretation of the Constitution and its relevance to all citizens. He emphasized the importance of civic engagement and understanding one’s rights, urging attendees to reflect not just on who the Constitution belongs to, but on how it serves as a living document that embodies the values and aspirations of the American people.

NCCU Law’s Constitution Day program underscores the school’s commitment to fostering a deep understanding of the law while encouraging future legal professionals to advocate for justice and equality in their communities. We extend our gratitude to Justice Michael R. Morgan for his inspiring words and to all attendees for contributing to this year’s Constitution Day celebration.
