PACER stands for Public Access to Court Electronic Records, and it is the main portal for filing and accessing United States district and circuit court records. PACER, however, is not free. Current PACER charges are ten cents a page with a cap at $3.00 a document, but the cap has several limitations and does not apply to all searches. As a result, it can be very expensive to search PACER.

Yet PACER fees need not mount up. There are video tutorials available to help you learn how to efficiently and effectively research this database. Go to the PACER Video Training Site for more information.
