Cisco General Counsel Mark Chandler Speaks at NCCU Law

North Carolina Central University (NCCU) School of Law began their General Counsel Speakers Series on Thursday, September 30, 2010 with a noon Lunch & Learn in the Great Hall of the Turner Law Building.

The first speaker of the series was Mark Chandler, Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary for Cisco Systems, Inc. where he currently manages a team of 250 professionals. Previously, he was Managing Attorney for the Europe, Middle East and Africa region, based in Paris.

Chandler joined Cisco in 1996 upon the acquisition of StrataCom, Inc., where he had been general counsel. Before that he served as vice president for corporate development and general counsel of Maxtor Corporation. Cisco Systems, Inc. is the worldwide leader in networking that transforms how people connect, communicate and collaborate.

Dean Raymond Pierce stated, “We are very fortunate to have Mark Chandler candidly share his experiences with our students.” Dean Pierce credits Law School Professor Marvin Genzer who is a retired Vice President, General Counsel & Secretary, for securing the Chandler invitation to speak. Professor Genzer has served since 2007 as an Adjunct Professor of Law teaching In-House Corporate Practice at NCCU School of Law.

The Lunch & Learn allowed Chandler to share “The Future of the Legal Profession: What New Graduates Should Expect and What Law School Should be Teaching.”
