Reference Desk Hours

Reference hours vary during holidays, exams, and between academic periods. Please call the reference desk at 919-530-6715 for updated information.

Fall Semester Hours

Monday: 9 a.m. – 8 p.m.
Tuesday: 9 a.m. – 8 p.m.
Wednesday: 9 a.m. – 8 p.m.
Thursday: 9 a.m. – 8 p.m.
Friday: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Saturday: Closed
Sunday: 1 p.m. – 5 p.m.

Exceptions

The Law Library will be CLOSED on Monday, September 1st  for Labor Day.

The Law Library will CLOSE at 5pm Wednesday, November 26th .  The Library will be CLOSED Thursday, November 27th – Friday, November 28th  for Thanksgiving.

The Law Library will be CLOSED December 23rd, 2014 – January 1st, 2015.

Ask a Law Librarian

Professional dual-degreed librarians are available to assist students and faculty with the location of information and efficient use of print and electronic resources. The Law Library provides reference services via NCCU Law Library FAQ, email, text, phone, and by appointment. Please note that the librarians are not permitted to give legal advice. In addition, many questions require detailed research in the library and are not within the scope of this service.

NCCU Law Library FAQ

Patrons may use the NCCU Law Library FAQ, available at http://ncculaw.libanswers.com/, for general library reference or circulation questions. The NCCU Law Library FAQ provides answers to commonly asked questions about the Law Library and other related resources. Patrons may enter a question into the question box, or choose from a list of available topics. Patrons can use the email form available to submit questions that have not been asked.

Email

Patrons may contact the Law Library reference desk using the Ask a Law Librarian Request Form. Ask a Law Librarian email is checked daily, Monday through Friday, excluding holidays and vacation periods. You may expect a reply to your question within one business day of the time a librarian receives it.

Phone

Patrons may contact the Law Library reference desk by telephone at 919-530-6715. Telephone reference service is limited to brief legal research questions and/or general questions about the Law Library. Patrons may be asked to use our email reference service or to schedule an appointment with a reference librarian for assistance with extensive questions.

Texting

Patrons may ask reference questions via text at 919-648-0247. Texts will be answered during reference hours.  Texts received after hours will be answered the following business day. In addition, many questions require detailed research in the library. Patrons may be asked to schedule an appointment with a reference librarian for assistance with extensive questions.  Your provider’s standard text messaging rates may apply.

Appointments

NCCU Law students may complete the Ask a Law Librarian Request Form or call 919-530-6715 to schedule an appointment to discuss research strategies with a reference librarian.
