Legal research can be expensive. Casemaker is, however, an exception to this rule. Besides having broad access to current United States case law, Casemaker also has access to the United States Code, U.S. Public Laws, the Code of Federal Regulations, and state code and session laws.
Casemaker also has CaseCheck Citations, possibly the only low cost alternative to KeyCite or Shepard’s. Other low cost legal research providers use an automated citator service that places the burden on the researcher to determine whether the case is still “good law.” CaseCheck differs from other low cost alternatives because Casemaker employs an an editorial staff determine whether the case is still good law – like KeyCite and Shepard’s. Casemaker is available for free to members of the North Carolina Bar, and CasemakerX – legal research for law students and faculty – is available to all NCCU students if using your @eagles.nccu.edu email address to establish an account.
