Page Potter - Director, Pro Bono Program

 Page Potter is a native of Durham, North Carolina. She attended Vassar College for two years, then enrolled at the University of Vienna, Austria where she received her Magister der Philosophie degree in German. She received her J.D. degree from Duke Law School in 1981. Following a clerkship with the Illinois Supreme Court, she returned to Durham and practiced with a small firm in the areas of commercial litigation and corporate law from 1983-1986. She began her teaching career as an adjunct instructor teaching business law and paralegal courses at Wake Technical Community College and Durham Technical Community College. From 1987-2000 she directed the Paralegal Program at Meredith College in Raleigh, North Carolina, where she also taught legal research and writing and directed the internship program. Potter joined NCCU Law School in Fall 2002 as Pro Bono Coordinator and Academic Support Specialist from 2002-2005.

  As Director of the Pro Bono Program since 2005, she promotes law student engagement in pro bono activity and service to the community. She teaches the Pro Bono Clinic and Street Law courses and serves as faculty adviser to the student Public Interest Law Organization, PILO, and as co-advisor to the NCCU Law School Innocence Project. Potter is a member (inactive) of the Illinois and North Carolina State Bars. She has served on the NCBA Law Practice Management Section Council and the boards of the Raleigh Oratorio Society and Durham Lakewood YMCA. She is an active volunteer with the Eno River Unitarian Universalist Fellowship and enjoys outdoor activities and singing with choral groups in Durham and Chapel Hill
