Lisa Morgan - Assistant Dean of Student Affairs

Lisa Morgan was born in Washington,
D.C. but grew up in the eastern North Carolina town of New Bern.
Upon graduating from New Bern Senior High School, she attended the
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she majored in
Criminal Justice. Returning to her place of birth, she attended
Howard University School of Law and received her J.D.
in 1986.
Once a member of the North Carolina
State Bar, she worked as a staff attorney at the Durham-based Land
Loss Prevention Project, an organization that assists farmers and
others at risk of losing their land. She then took a position at
North State Legal Services in Hillsborough, N.C. where she represented
and advocated for the rights of poor people. While at Legal Services,
she served on their recruitment committee, interviewing students
for summer and permanent employment. During the fall of 1990, she
taught as an adjunct in the NCCU Law School's Writing Program.
By the spring of 1991, she joined
the administration of the Law School as Director of Placement and
Recruitment. While at the Law School, she has been a member of various
organizations and served on many committees, including, Legal Services
of North Carolina Board of Directors (Chair), North Carolina Association
of Black Lawyers, Board of Dir North Carolina Bar Association, Triangle
Association of Legal Recruitment Administrators, NCBA Minorities
in the Profession Committee, NCBA Race Relations Commission, Durham
Public Schools Budget Advisory Committee, National Association for
Law Placement Employment Diversity and Opportunity Committee and
Nominating Committee.
Her interests include gardening, billiards and
golf as well as participating in the many activities of her two
daughters.
