Tameka E. Lester is a native of Marion, S.C. She joined the North Carolina Central University (NCCU) School of Law Staff in 2011. Lester received her Bachelor of Science in Integrated Marketing Communication from Winthrop University. She also has a Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix and a Juris Doctor from NCCU School of Law.
Prior to joining the NCCU Staff, Lester worked as an Audio Marketing Consultant for Muzak LLC where she was responsible for the copywriting and production of on-hold messaging systems. She also worked for Wachovia Bank for five years. While there, she lead a communications team as well as a team tasked with developing programming for African American senior leadership in Charlotte, N.C. Additionally, she coordinated process improvement initiatives, managed small projects, and developed a training program for her business segment. While in law school, Lester clerked for a civil litigation firm and interned with the Low Income Taxpayer Clinic at Durham’s Legal Aid of North Carolina office. She also served as the Fundamental Tax tutor for a year.
Lester currently serves as Director of the Low Income Taxpayer Clinic. She is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the program. In her spare time she enjoys working out, traveling and reading.
