Pamela Murrell Thombs is Director of the Consumer Financial Transactions Clinic at North Carolina Central University School of Law in Durham, North Carolina. She is a North Carolina native and graduated Salem College at Winston-Salem, NC with a BA degree with honors in Economics/Management and Sociology. She earned a Masters of Public Affairs Degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and a Juris Doctor Degree from The North Carolina Central University School of Law. She is licensed to practice law in the State of North Carolina and is licensed to practice in the United States District Courts in the Middle, Eastern and Western Districts of North Carolina.

Attorney Thombs was a Staff attorney for Legal Aid of North Carolina’s Mortgage Foreclosure Prevention Project from August, 2004 through January, 2006. She managed Legal Aid’s Smithfield, North Carolina office from January, 2006 until 2008 when she became a Managing Attorney for The Mortgage Foreclosure Prevention Statewide Project of Legal Aid of North Carolina and held that position until joining North Carolina Central University School of Law in October, 2013. From 2001 until 2004, Attorney Thombs served as a Staff Attorney at the Land Loss Prevention Project. Mrs. Thombs is a member of the Tenth Judicial District Bar Association. Throughout her legal career, Mrs. Thombs has practiced foreclosure defense and has used bankruptcy and adversary proceedings within Federal Bankruptcy Court as a tool to assist low-income homeowners in redressing issues of predatory lending and in mortgage foreclosure defense.
