Biography

Nakia C. Davis is a native of Rocky Mount North Carolina.  She received her B.A. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1997 and received her J.D. from North Carolina Central University School of Law in 2001.  After becoming a licensed attorney, she was afforded the opprotunity to work with several reputable law firms in Durham, North Carolina where she was able to cultivate and enhance her analytical and litigation skills in the area of family law.  On December 19, 2005, she established the Law Office of Nakia C. Davis, which provided her the opprotunity to establish a practice which focused solely on the area of family law.

In August of 2006, she joined the North Carolina Central University School of Law Faculty as an adjunct professor and became an Assistant Visiting Professor in 2010.  She currently serves as a Senior Clinical Professor and Supervising Attorney of the Family Law Clinic for the Clinical Legal Education Program.  She also teaches Family Relations, which is a doctrinal course and Pleadings and Practice with an emphasis on family law which is an experiential course.  Amongst other professional duties, she is a co-director/facilitator of the NCCU School of Law Virtual Justice Project and the co-director of the Performance Based Aptitude Program (PBAP), which provided her the opprotunity to attend law school.

Professor Davis has served as President of the Durham County Family Bar, a member of the Board of Directors for the Durham County Bar Association, and a member of various committees of the North Carolina Bar Association. She continues to be active in the legal community and in various capacities with an emphasis of providing legal services to the underserved and underrepresented.

In her spare time, she enjoys mentoring, traveling, and cooking.
