Emma C. Kinyanjui earned her bachelor’s degree in economics with a concentration in business from Hollins University in Roanoke, Va. After working in the hotel industry for four years, she earned her Juris Doctor from North Carolina Central University School of Law.
Once a member of the North Carolina State Bar, Kinyanjui began her law career as a Clifton Everett Fellow in the Morganton Office of Legal Aid of North Carolina, Inc. where she represented low income clients in housing, benefit, and consumer related issues. After completing her fellowship, she continued working for Legal Aid for seven years as a staff attorney, supervising attorney, and eventually as the Managing Attorney of the Smithfield Office of Legal Aid.
Kinyanjui lives in Wake County with her husband Tony and her stepdaughter Lucy. She enjoys, traveling, reading, and spending time with her family.
