Delores A. James was born and raised in Dayton, Ohio. She attended Ohio State University where she received a Bachelor of Science in Broadcast Journalism. Prior to joining the staff of North Carolina Central University (NCCU) School of Law, James served as Assistant General Manager/Director of Development for the University of North Carolina’s statewide public television network, UNC-TV. In her capacity of Assistant General Manager, she successfully oversaw all fundraising activities, human resources, communication, and marketing efforts.
James has also worked at public television stations in Ohio, Illinois, Georgia, and Florida where she has won numerous fundraising awards. As Director of Development for NCCU School of Law, she oversees all fundraising efforts, alumni relations, special events, and marketing and communication efforts.
James works directly with the Dean of the Law School on major gift fundraising projects. She is married to Emmy Award- winning filmmaker Dante James and they live in Durham, N.C.
