David L. McKenzie ’04 joined the Raleigh office of Sands Anderson PC on April 6, 2011. He will be the lead litigator for the law firm’s clients in North Carolina. Managing Shareholder Paul C. Jacobson made the announcement. “David brings stellar skills in client advocacy, trial tactics, business and intellectual property law to our clients as well as an enviable record of courtroom experience,” said Jacobson, who explained that Sands Anderson is acquiring McKenzie’s solo practice.
McKenzie will focus his practice on general civil litigation, intellectual property law, land use law, business disputes, and corporate litigation. Most of his federal and state court experience has been handling civil litigation matters pertaining to copyright and trademark infringement, misappropriation of trade secrets, breach of contract and business torts. He has also represented Home Owners Associations and handled transactional work including intellectual property, contracts, business formation, and elder law matters.
“David’s arrival allows us to be more aggressive about making our North Carolina clients’ points in court and in business,” remarked firm President M. Pierce Rucker. “This acquisition is a substantial addition to our litigation bench strength,” he added.
