The Patent Clinic consists of a course and practice component within the same semester. The course will familiarize students with the basics of patent application practice before the U.S. Patent Office. Students will learn search and application procedures for patent applications and understand the basics of the search process and prerequisites for patenting. In the practice component, students will interview and screen potential clients, prepare patent search analyses and advisory memorandum, and will learn the basics of patent application writing.
To enroll in this clinic, students must have completed a Patent class or have substantial related work experience and approval of the instructor.
