General Admissions Requirement Checklist

The requirements for a completed application file are the following:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree that has been award by an institution that is accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the United States Department of Education by the time orientation begins in the fall semester per Standard 502(a).  Council of Higher Education Accreditation’s website for a listing of accredited colleges and universities); AND
  • Complete the Online Application for Admission; AND
  • Pay the $50 non-refundable application fee through LSAC’s credit card fee collection service; AND
  • https://law.nccu.edu/admissions/general-requirements/lsat/Take the Law School Admission Test (LSAT); AND
  • Complete and submit to LSAC the LSAT Writing Sample; AND
  • Submit two written recommendations through the Law School Admissions Council (LSAC)  AND the Letter of Recommendation Service*;
  • Submit a current, completed Credential Assembly School (CAS) Report via LSAC that includes all post-secondary educational institutions attended; AND
    Submit your Personal Statement.
    Submit your Resume including all work experience.

Foreign-Born Applicants

If English is NOT your first language, we require the results from either the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) examination by the Educational Testing Service (ETS), or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) are to be mailed directly to the law school on or before the application deadline.

An offer of admission from the Law School to international applicants is conditioned upon verification that, as an incoming international student, they are eligible to enroll in school, and can show evidence of their ability to satisfy their financial obligations associated with attending school.  International students are responsible for tuition, fees and associated costs of attendance. For further details, please read the Financial Statement of Eligibility (1-20) found on our website here, which will be required to be submitted no later than June 1st.

In addition to all other enrollment requirements, foreign-born applicants must submit all required documentation as applicable to the appropriate department of North Carolina Central University no later than the first day of orientation to show proof of eligibility to enroll in the School of Law.

Foreign-Educated Applicants

If you attended a foreign institution (not including a study abroad program through a domestic post-secondary institution): The law school recommends that your academic credentials be evaluated for baccalaureate equivalency and assessment of grade-point average through the World Education Service, Inc. (WES). Applicants must pay for the cost associated with having their foreign transcripts evaluated. The evaluation must be mailed directly to the law school by World Education Services, Inc. (WES) on or before the application deadline.
